1. Is It Strange? Don’t act shocked when you hear someone talk about you. So long as you operate in a community, people will talk about you. That’s just life. The faster you realize that the happier you will be.
2. All About Control. In life, there are things you CANNOT control. People talking about you is one of them. The faster you choose not to worry about those uncontrollable things, the happier you will be.
3. Know The Real Threat. You have more to fear from within than without. People talking about you can only have power over you if you let them. Choose only to believe what you know about yourself.
4. Put On Alligator Skin. TD Jakes once said, “People who have never met you will form an opinion about you.” That’s ok. Don’t let that make you meaner just let that make you tougher.
5. Say It To My Face. I always say that someone may talk about me, but if I don’t hear it, it doesn’t exist. I will not create real or imaginary situations in my mind to stress over.
6. Examine yourself. The more profound question is, how do you talk about others? Maybe because you talk about others negatively, you are projecting your behavior on other people, creating paranoia for yourself.
7. Know Your Tongue Power. Choose to be the person who always talks constructively and not destructively about others—a person who celebrates instead of pushes hate.
